Play Therapy Certificate Program

The Canadian Association for Play Therapy (CAPT) Play Therapy Certificate Program offers unique and intensive training in the theory and practice of play therapy. Students who complete the thirty-day program earn 180 hours of continuing education credits, which is one of the steps needed to become a Certified Play Therapist. The program instructors are skilled play therapists who bring expertise on a wide variety of topics. The certificate program will be offered in Toronto from July 2nd through August 10th, 2018. The deadline for Toronto is May 15, 2018.

The Play Therapy Certificate Program covers core content in the theory and practice of Play Therapy. The curriculum includes the following:

Theory and Approaches: Play Therapy Process, Theoretical Frameworks, Assessment, Family Play Therapy, Group Play Therapy, Filial Therapy, Theraplay.

Techniques: Sandtray, Puppets, Storytelling, Art.

Special Populations: Trauma, Abuse, Grief & Loss, ODD, Autism Spectrum, Anxiety, Sexual Behavior Problems, Attachment disorders.

Toronto Program:  2018

The program in Toronto is offered in July and August 2018. The program is divided into three levels, each consisting of ten days. The cost of each ten-day level is $2,000 (plus HST) for a total of $2,260. Individuals who do not wish to attend the full Certificate Program but would like to obtain training in Play Therapy can sign up for individual courses within the program (called CEU days). The cost is $220 (plus HST – ) for CAPT members and $250 (plus HST) for non-CAPT members. (Note that there is a separate Application Form).

The application deadline for the Play Therapy Certificate Program in Toronto will be May 15, 2018!

Applications received after the deadline date will incur a charge of $100 plus HST.
